A lot of people feel uncomfortable being photographed. So if that’s you, you’re not alone!
Do you hate the idea of not being in control of the outcome? Do you worry that the photographer won’t show your best side? Are you worried that you won’t know what to do and will feel silly?
I would suggest starting to journal what you would like to get out of the session. Think about how you want to feel, not what you want to look like.
Do you want to gain some self esteem/confidence? Do you just want to have a fun day trying something new? Do you just really need to get this linked-in photo? Try to open up to the fact that this is an experience, a collaboration between the two of us.
Here are 3 tips for overcoming your fear.
Remember to be in the moment. I know that it’s hard, but if you focus on having fun, instead of “looking great” your experience will be better and the images will be more natural. I’ll do everything in my power to get you out of your own head and into the present moment and enjoying our time together.
Start meditating and using positive affirmations. If you are feeling down, try finding a positive affirmation that speaks to you. You can say it everyday in front of the mirror “I look great!” and smile. Or put on a song that always makes you feel like you can do anything.
Don’t compare yourself to any other images you see. I know this one is hard, especially with social media. But your session is your session and completely personalized to you. I try my hardest to get to know my clients personality and dislikes. I am aiming to make it the best experience you can have plus the best images you have ever seen of yourself.
Let yourself open up to be vulnerable. Let me help you make this a great experience. Allow yourself to experience it and remember it.
Stay tuned for more tips coming next week on how to feel confident having your photo taken.
